A metaphor for universities as gardens eventually casting students into the world, the Snake Path incorporates a small garden in its coil and other landscaping along a steep pitch between UCSD’s research library and a major quadrangle.
Design development input and construction documentation for artist Alexis Smith’s artwork, a 560-foot-long snake pathway sculpture, executed in slate “scales” for the Stuart Collection at the University of California, San Diego.
