The work strives to heighten awareness of Los Angeles’ canyon watersheds draining into the Pacific, and is composed of manmade forms now intervening between canyon and ocean – roadway median strip, walkways, and paving – as well as native plants. California Wash won a national competition for an environmental artwork and is realized where Pico Boulevard meets the Pacific.
