Encompassing a full city block at the edge of San Diego City College’s campus in the East Village, the project includes a compact, north-facing courtyard abutting the existing steeply sloped C street. The nearly 8 foot change in grade within the courtyard accommodates an upper and lower plaza, connected by a simple sloped walkway threaded through a grove of deciduous trees and a tapestry of massed evergreen shrubs and groundcovers.
